保险管理是通过一定程序和方式对保险企业的各项经济活动进行组织、协调和监督的过程。目的在于以尽量少的劳动耗费，取得最佳的经济效益和社会效益。包括行政管理和业务管理两大类。①行政管理指通过一定的保险行政管理机构依据保险立法对保险经营活动进行约束和控制，具有强制性和直接性，如厘订保险条款、核发营业证书、拟定保险法规和管理办法、处理保险合同纠纷等。②业务管理指按照经济规律的客观要求，运用经济杠杆和现代科学手段对保险企业经营活动进行引导、协调和组织的过程，是保险管理的中心环节。包括展业、承保、财务、理赔和信息管理等。广义上的业务管理还包括风险管理在内。
