风险分散是金融业 (或一般工商企业)运营中对风险管理的一种方法。商业银行的资产结构的特点是贷款多为包含大量潜在不稳定因素的中、长期贷款，而在欧洲货币市场上吸收的存款和借入的又都具有短期性质，这种不对称现象很容易引起周转危机。另外，投资项目在资产结构中所占的比重越来越大。这就要求银行根据资产负债结构的特点进行分散风险的管理。即应力争做到适当分散风险，使资产的安全性和盈利性协调一致。银行既在内部采用分散理论，也可在外部通过其他形式进行投资，把放款的风险分散。
