金字塔结构与“扁平结构”相对。典型的科层制。指在组织规模已定的情况下，通过比较狭窄的管理幅度和较多的管理层次设计而使得职能严格划分、层极严格确定的组织结构形态，是一种传统的组织结构设计。其优点是：较小的管理幅度可以使每位主管仔细地研究从每个下属那儿得到的有限信息，并对每个下属进行详尽的指导。但过多的管理层次，影响信息从基层传递到高层的速度，而且信息在多层级的传递过程中容易失真，并使得计划的控制工作复杂化。
