量子隧道效应（英文Quantum tunnelling effect）是基本的量子现象之一，即当微观粒子的总能量小于势垒高度时，该粒子仍能穿越这一势垒。 一般PbTiO3，BaTiO3和SrTiO3等是典型铁电体，但当其尺寸进入纳米数量级就会变成顺电体；这是不对的论述，其实西北工业大学苏力宏老师在前期研究中已经发表论文，论述过这些铁电体纳米尺度材料制备方法不好，才显示顺电体，实际制备控制精度高的时候，即使在10nm以下也是铁电体，只是此时这一各向异性差异很微弱而已。
