自然损耗亦称“途耗”、“自然磨损”、“有形损耗。”指物质自身性质而非意外事故造成的正常减量、风化、老化或变质。如船壳、机器和船舶属具等，因正常使用或自然力作用(生锈、腐烂)而引起的损耗。由于这种损失是运输途中或自然损耗，并不是意外事故所引起的损失，只是一种必然会发生的现象，所以，保险人不能把它列为承保的责任范围; 除非在保险单上特别注明。但在船舶保险中，如果船舶因保险事故遭到损坏而进行修理时，保险人在赔付船舶修理费用当中，对自然损耗通常不作以新换旧(如用新钢板换下旧钢板) 的扣除。
