磨蚀是指风力、流水、波浪和冰川等所携碎屑物对基岩进行的机械磨损。亦即侵蚀或刻蚀辅之以对岩石的擦划（scratching）和冲蚀（scouring）。象用砂纸将岩石打磨过一样，给留下平滑、光溜的表面。磨损也表示碎屑物自身在搬运过程中的磨损，并因而变得越来越小。
