火星花原产非洲南部，别名雄黄兰，为本属植物帕氏火星花和黄火星花的杂交种。喜充足阳光，耐寒。在长江中下游地区球茎露地能越冬。适宜生长于排水良好、疏松肥沃的沙壤土，生育期要求土壤有充足水分。生于山坡荫湿处。仲夏季节花开不绝，是布置花境、花坛和作切花的好材料。
