残疾是中国古代法律中指人肢体或五官伤残，较笃疾为轻。《唐律疏议·斗讼》：“假有旧瞎一目为残疾，更瞎一目成笃疾”。《宋刑统·户婚律》曰：“一目盲，两耳聋，手无二指，足无三指，手足无大拇指，秃疮无发，久漏下重大瘿癌如此之类，皆为残疾。”明清律将唐宋的残疾与废疾合称残废。残疾在确定伤害的后果以定罪量刑时为一重要标准，同时又是减免刑罚、赋税、徭役的依据之一。《唐律疏议·斗讼》：“诸斗殴折跌人支体及瞎其一目者，徒三年”。
