模拟法，是指以一定的假设条件和数据为前提，借助仿真技术来估算任务的工期。比较常用的模拟法有蒙特卡洛模拟、三角模拟等。模拟法的计算量很大，通常在计算机的辅助下工作，可以计算和确定每件任务以及整个项目中各项任务工期的统计分布。 它是在实验室里先设计出与某被研究现象或过程（即原型）相似的模型，然后通过模型，间接的研究原型规律性的实验方法。先依照原型的主要特征，创设一个相似的模型，然后通过模型来间接研究原型的一种形容方法。根据模型和原型之间的相似关系，模拟法可分为物理模拟和数学模拟两种。
