“木版”是印刷中国传统版画的木质雕版。唐代是木刻艺术的初创期。当时木刻主要服务于宗教的宣传，宗教的大发展使印刷业得以兴盛，至于文学书籍及民间用书的木刻插图，直到五代才逐步受到应有的重视。
