医学术语，是癌症三大治疗手段之一。是用各种不同能量的射线照射肿瘤，以抑制和杀灭癌细胞的一种治疗方法。放疗可单独使用，也可与手术、化疗等配合，作为综合治疗的一部分，以提高癌症的治愈率。在手术前先作一段放疗使肿瘤体积缩小些，便可使原来不能手术的患者争取到手术的机会。对晚期癌症则可通过姑息性放疗达到缓解压迫、止痛等效果。
