巨核又称巨粒子或粗粒子,是指直径大于2μm以上的气溶胶粒子。来源于地面尘土、火山灰、燃烧及工业排放物、植物粒子,以及海浪溅沫干涸后生成的各种盐核。广义的粗粒子包括云、雨滴等液态粒子,狭义的是指云凝结核中尺度最大的那一部分。巨核有一定的沉降速度,常会很快沉降到地面。吸湿性的巨盐核能在较低的过饱和度下生成一些大云滴,有利于云滴的碰并增大,在成云致雨过程中起重要作用。干沉降和降水清除是它在大气中消失的原因。
