双声是指两个汉字的声母相同。如普通话“大地”[da di]是双声,两个字的声母都是。两个字是不是双声,不同方言区或不同时代的人认识并不完全一样。如闽南方言“农林” [lo lim],“无面” (闽南话“没趣儿”)[bo bin]都是双声在现代汉语普通话中则不是双声又如“五牛”两个字,从《广韵》音系看,五，疑古切；牛，语求切，是双声，但在现代汉语普通话则不是双声。
