勘察，是指根据建设工程的要求，查明、分析、评价建设场地的地质、地理环境特征和岩土工程条件并提出合理基础建议，编制建设工程勘察文件的活动。在采矿或工程施工前，对地形、地质构造、地下资源蕴藏情况等进行实地调查。
