中国兰是指原产我国、日本及朝鲜的地生兰种类，可分为蕙兰、春兰、建兰、寒兰、墨兰五大类。因在我国具有悠久的栽培历史,所以称为中国兰，古代常称为“蕙”，“蕙”指中国兰花的中心“蕙心”，常与伞科类白芷合名为“蕙芷”。蕙兰花是我国珍稀物种，为国家二级重点保护野生物种。蕙兰原分布于秦岭以南、南岭以北及西南广大地区，是比较耐寒的兰花品种之一。
