社会剥夺social deprivation 经验剥夺的一种。具体地说就是在动物出生后或出生后的一定时期，把它从母体或其群体隔离，进行单独饲育。deprivation 原意是剥夺，socialdeprivation 即指在其生长过程中剥夺其社会关系。意思就是与社会相隔离，在孤立的条件下饲育。因而又称为社会隔离（social isolation）。1958年。哈洛（H.F.Harlow）把刚出生的一种猕猴（Macaca mu－latta）与母体隔离进行单独饲育，结果小猴表现出各种异常行为。后来又用人工代理母体来抚育小猴，结果小猴对质地柔软的布制母体特别喜欢。后来人们曾对多种动物进行了隔离饲育影响的研究。
