中间商是指在生产者与消费者之间参与商品交易业务，促使买卖行为发生和实现的、具有法人资格的经济组织或个人。它是连结生产者与消费者的中介环节。中间商从不同的角度可以分为许多类型:按是否拥有商品所有权,可分为经销商和代理商，前者是在商品买卖过程中拥有商品所有权的中间商;按其在流通过程中所起的不同作用,又可分为批发商和零售商，前者是不直接服务于消费者的中间商。此外,广义的中间商还包括银行、保险公司、运输公司、进出口商人、一切经纪人等。但是，就主要的中间商类型来看，只有代理商、批发商和零售商3 种。
