曾经有一个食物中毒的理论是关于尸毒（Ptomaine，源于希腊语，“掉落”、“尸体”之意）的，尸毒主要是在腐烂的动植物遗骸中含有的生物碱。虽然某些生物碱的确能够导致食物中毒，但是在人类发现细菌之后，因为尸毒理论不可靠，连“尸毒”一词也不再出现 在学术场合。尸毒究竟是什么，民间有很多种说法。医学上，一直都没有“尸毒”这个词。所谓尸毒，其实就是尸体腐烂后所产生的一种病毒。在电影《黑风血雨》里面就出现过，那电影里面的医生也提及是一种罕见的怪病毒。其实那就是从腐烂尸体上散发出来间接的被陈鹏吸进身体内。
