是指根据病人的主要症状及体征判断病人病情的轻重缓急及其隶属专科，并合理安排其就诊的过程。分诊是指对来院急诊就诊病人进行快速、重点地收集资料，并将资料进行分析、判断，分类、分科，同时按轻、重、缓、急安排就诊顺序，同时登记入册（档），时间一般应在2～5分钟内完成。分诊的重点：病情分诊和学科分诊。
