At present, a total of 91 collections from 45 countries are inscribed on the International Register of the Memory of the World Programme.
There are now 245 inscriptions on the International Memory of the World Register, and the number of nominations increases in every assessment round.
The principal vehicles for such awareness-raising are the UNESCO Memory of the World registers, which now operate at international, regional and national levels.
Since then, many activities have been undertaken to raise awareness, within society and among heritage holders, about the Memory of the World Programme.
Nominations should ideally be submitted through the National Commission for UNESCO or the Memory of the World National Committee in the country where it is located.
The key objectives of the conference are to celebrate the achievements of the Memory of the World Programme, to identify its shortcomings and to propose potential improvements.
