We could continue increasing our fees each year by the 5.9% we averaged over the past decade and then discounting those fees by 45% or more--or we could break the cycle, make ourselves more affordable and accessible and direct precious financial aid dollars toward students who truly need them.
And being in thrall to the electoral cycle, they will remain vulnerable to well-aimed direct actions, unless they are prepared to adopt a tough stance and stick to it.
