Since the financial collapse of 1997, several East Asian countries have overhauled their corporate governance, putting new powers in the hands of the courts and setting up new regulators.
The competitor they most fear is Cisco Systems, the company that dominates the corporate-data world, supplies more than 80% of the equipment that powers the Internet and is now increasingly selling equipment to telecoms carriers too.
If the Swiss can live with four languages, if they can withstand the diversity of a federal system that delegates many powers to the cantonal level, we dare say it can afford more than one corporate-governance model too.
