Score a kill, and you'll earn Bouncer Points, which you can then use in between stages to pump up your character's stats or pick up a new special fighting technique.
So you can change the way your Iron Man or your Hulk character looks (and better crafting will lead to improved stats as well) but only by unlocking skins.
