飞航空事故是指从起飞前开车至着陆后关车的飞行全过程中，飞机上发生的直接威胁安全操作或者造成人员伤亡、飞机损坏或失踪的事件。造成飞行事故的原因主要有恶劣的天气条件、飞机的机械故障、飞行员操作失误、地面指挥及勤务保障过失、飞鸟撞击飞机、暴力劫持飞机等等。国际民用航空组织将飞行事故划分为失事和事故两类。
