细菌素是某些细菌在代谢过程中通过核糖体合成机制产生的一类具有抑菌活性的多肽或前体多肽。对同种近缘菌株呈现狭窄的抑制谱，通过在靶细胞上穿孔、抑制肽聚糖合成，与核糖体或tRNA相互作用抑制蛋白质合成，直接降解靶细胞DNA，从而起到抑菌效果。
