所有权保留是指在移转财产所有权的商品交易中，根据法律的规定或者当事人的约定，财产所有人移转标的物的占有于对方当事人，但仍保留其对该财产的所有权，待对方当事人支付部分或全部价款，或完成特定条件时，该财产的所有权才发生移转的一种法律制度。
