忌日，意思先人的卒日称忌日，每逢忌日设筵席祭祀称为做忌日。“忌日”过去也叫“忌辰”。忌日就是人死的那天的日子。出自《礼记·祭义》：“君子有终身之丧，忌日之谓也。” 除了清明节之类的日子外，家属、亲友也会在那一天扫墓、烧钱、祭拜死者。“忌日”还有另外一个意思，指按照过去迷信的说法，不宜做某件事的日子。
