凉性食物是指在药理上具有清热、泻火、解毒等药性功能的食物。凉性食物与寒性食物在性质上基本一致,只是程度上有所不同,所以也称为“微寒食物”。 常见的凉性食物有小米、小麦、薏苡仁、香菇、黄瓜、冬瓜、菠菜、梨等等。适用于阴虚或阳亢,或者暑、热、燥外邪导致的内火、虚热等“热”症。
一些像羊肉和菠菜之类的食物,被视为“热性”食物,其它如大白菜及小红萝卜等,则被视为“凉性”食物。
