非智力因素是由上海师范大学燕国材教授的《应重视非智力因素的培养》一文发表后，引起了我国教育学和心理学界的重视。指人在智慧活动中，不直接参与认知过程的心理因素，包括需要、兴趣、动机、情感、意志、性格等方面。主要是培养学生的意志力，道德修养，克服困难的勇气和能力及自信、自立、自强的良好心理素质等。在教育过程中，非智力因素的培养和智力因素的培养同等重要，教育既要“解惑”更要“授道”，注重的应是学生的综合素质的培养，而不仅仅是智力水平。同时，在未来社会中，有创造力的人往往并不单纯表现在会考高分上，培养创造力比培养学生考高分要重要得多。充分发掘学生的非智力因素，学会期待，学会欣赏他们潜在的价值。
