费用确认是费用应当按照权责发生制原则，在确认有关收入的那一期间予以确认。即费用已经发生应由当期负担，尚未实际支付的，应预提计入当期费用；虽然当期支付但应由当期和以后各期成本负担的费用，应按一定的标准（受益程度）分配计入当期和以后各期成本。国际会计准则规定，如果资产减少或负债的增加，关系到未来经济利益的减少，并且能够可靠地加以计量，就应当在收益表中确认费用这在实际上意味着确认费用的同时，也要确认负债的增加或资产的减少，例如预提应付职工款项或计提设备折旧。费用在实质上可以说是已消逝的资产。
配比性原则是控制费用确认时间的会计原则。
