建筑物沉降观测，英文名称building axis survey，适用于在工业与民用建筑中。在工业与民用建筑中，为了掌握建筑物的沉降情况，及时发现对建筑物不利的下沉现象，以便采取措施，保证建筑物安全使用，同时也为今后合理设计提供资料，因此，在建筑物施工过程中和投产使用后，必须进行沉降观测。
应用灰色系统理论建立建筑物沉降观测的预测模型，对建筑物的沉降量及相应沉速作出预测。
A predication model of grey system theory was proposed for observation of building settlement. With the model, the ground settlement and its variation speed could be predicated.
