Mayor Mohammed Jamil Ibrahim says thevillage is 400 years old, and that life was peaceful until the June day in 1967 when Israeli soldiers first entered thevillage.
Just outside of the entrance to thevillage and linked by a caldera hugging footpath, Perivolas is a longtime favorite, featuring peaceful (no TVs), gleaming white rounded stone cave houses terraced down the caldera, a much photographed infinity pool and guests who look like cover models.
