女医生凯特移居到城里离开前她搬空租用的大屋她的旧居是一栋美丽的海边大屋临走前凯特给下一个房客留下一纸字条告诉他屋前的狗狗爪印在她之前的房客留下的亚历克斯收到了字条时大屋一片破败杂草丛生而且根本没有所谓的狗爪他当作是恶作剧老屋是亚历克斯的父亲造的同为建筑师的他打算重整大屋他给凯特回信发现两人时间上相隔两年之久凯特身在2006年而亚历克斯的时间是2004年的同月同日好奇之下两人继续通信不知不觉被对方的经历打动

剧情:
湖边的小屋搬来了新的住客困惑的建筑师在信箱里他发现了一位孤独的女医生的信女医生是小屋的上一位住客在信件的往来交流里寂寞的两人之间也开始萌发出隐隐的爱情但渐渐的两人却发现他们竟然相距两年的时空而那个伫立在湖边小屋旁的信箱连起了两人之间的所有情愫

随后的工作就是剧本创作曾经创作过著名百老汇舞台剧求证在去年也曾被改编为电影并且在仅仅32岁时凭此剧获得普利策奖托尼奖等众多奖杯同样地本片的制作还找来了著名的阿根廷导演亚历坚德罗·阿奎莱斯蒂华纳公司的制片人在前年他拍摄的瓦伦汀Valentin中发现了他对细腻感情的出色表现能力因此将影片交给他来拍摄
再度合作
基奴·李维斯与桑德拉·布洛克在好莱坞一直拥有不错的口碑因为两人都工作敬业态度低调很少负面新闻两人在本片里再次合作也将会成为触不到的恋人最引人注目的亮点1994年两个人第一次在生死时速中合作相识那是桑德拉·布洛克第一次在影片中担任主演她因此获得MTV的奖杯获得普通观众的肯定
