“佐罗”是中世纪西班牙民间传奇中的蒙面侠士。他原是贵族青年迪亚戈，富于正义感，嫉恶如仇，但平时故意装出胆小怕事的样子，而在紧要关头，他以蒙面侠士的面目出现，以无比高强的武艺，严惩为富不仁的贪官污吏，为受苦受难的平民百姓伸冤雪恨。

有关“佐罗”的这一题材，世界各国拍过不少故事片和动画片。法、意合拍的影片《佐罗》由杜西约·泰萨利执导，法国著名男星阿兰·德隆饰演佐罗。1975年3月6日在意大利上映，《好汉佐罗》是影片的片首歌。

这部电影的音乐由圭多和莫里齐奥·安吉利斯兄弟（Guido & Maurizio De Angelis），在1974年创作完成，发行在《Zorro》电影原声专辑里。

　　圭多和莫里齐奥·安吉利斯兄弟，是意大利早期电影配乐大师。两兄弟出生于意大利的罗卡迪帕帕路易斯，Guido生于1944年，Maurizio生于1947年。他们由吉他演奏开始了音乐生涯，Maurizio学习作曲与和声，而Guido学习长笛演奏。他们组建过多个名称的乐团，有“黑石头”乐团（G & M）、“奥利弗洋葱”乐团（Oliver Onions）等。1967年后他们开始管弦乐演奏，参与了许多电影原声的录制，包括由著名作曲家Ennio Morricone、Riz Ortolani、Armando Trovaioli等作曲的电影原声。1970年他们第一次制作的电影原声——为Nino Manfredi的电影《Per Grazia Ricevuta》制作了著名的歌曲《Tanto pè cantà》，取得了巨大成功。之后他们为电影《Zorro》《Savana Violenta》等制作的原声也同样经久不衰。

　　《好汉佐罗》这首歌出现在中国的时间是1979年，随着弗拉门戈风格的音乐响起“佐罗”黑色的眼罩，黑色的斗篷，像风一样快的骏马，如梦一样迷人的微笑，若隐若现的爱情，如舞步一样优美的剑法，人们仿佛又看见了锄强扶弱的主题，引人入胜的情节。

这张亚洲版的《Zorro》专辑在法国发行。专辑里的最后一首《Zorro Is Back》，是主题曲的另一个版本，是完整的佛拉门戈风格吉他演奏版，充分抒发了西班牙的浪漫与欢快。此专辑共收录了12首他们为电影《佐罗》制作的原声作品，其中还有不少好听的音乐，电影中并没有出现，专辑里的第7首《To You Mi Chica》是Oliver Onions的男声二重唱，听来仿佛走在海边的沙滩上，和主题曲的风格相反，是很轻盈、浪漫的南美音乐风格。
