鬼臼，中药名。为小檗科植物八角莲Dysosma versipellis (Hance) M. Cheng的根茎。分布湖南、湖北、浙江、江西、安徽、广东、广西、云南、贵州、四川、河南、陕西。具有祛痰散结，解毒祛瘀之功效。用于痨伤，咳嗽，吐血，胃痛，瘿瘤，痈肿，疔疮，跌打损伤，蛇伤。
早在200-300年前,北美和喜马拉雅地区居民先后发现鬼臼(Podophyllum)树根的浸出液有药用价值,用于催吐,导泻和驱虫。1947年证明鬼臼可阻止细胞于分裂期,有类似秋水仙素的作用。
