将电介质放在电场中就会被极化。许多电介质的极化是与外电场同时存在同时消失的。也有一些电介质,受强外电场作用后其极化现象不随外电场去除而完全消失,出现极化电荷“永久”存在于电介质表面和体内的现象。这种在强外电场等因素作用下,极化并能“永久”保持极化状态的电介质,称为驻极体,又叫永电体。
