食物问题是食物的生产不能满足人口发展的需要问题。食物通常包括粮食、油脂、水果、肉类、禽蛋、乳品、水产品乃至饮料等，它是人类生存的基本需要。食物有限比其他因素有限更能限制人口增长。食物主要来源于耕地，耕地有限决定了初级生产量有限，可供养的人口数也有限。食物问题一方面是数量的有限性，另一方面还包括食物的营养结构问题，因而若提高人口的营养水平，则会进一步降低食物可供养的人口数。
