韧带样瘤来源于深部结缔组织，主要是肌肉内结缔组织及其被覆的筋膜或腱膜的单克隆纤维母细胞性肿瘤。其中腹壁外来源的就称为腹壁外韧带样瘤。1923年由Nichols首次报道命名。本病在形态上表现良性，但其生物学行为属于低度恶性，呈侵袭性生长、易复发,但无转移。故又称侵袭性纤维瘤病、非转移性纤维肉瘤、腹壁外纤维瘤病。
