需求曲线表示在每一价格下所需求的商品数量。需求曲线是显示价格与需求量关系的曲线，是指其他条件相同时，在每一价格水平上买主愿意购买的商品量的表或曲线。其中需求量是不能被观测的。需求曲线可以以任何形状出现，符合需求定理的需求曲线只可以是向右下倾斜的。需求曲线通常以价格为纵轴（y轴），以需求量为横轴（x轴），在一条向右下倾斜、且为直线的需求曲线中，在中央点的需求的价格弹性等于一，而以上部份的需求价格弹性大于一，而以下部份的需求价格弹性则小于一。
