集装箱保险是指集装箱所有人或租借人对因在集装箱运输管理中的各种风险而产生的集装箱箱体的灭失、损坏等进行的保险，或者是集装箱运输事故而对第三人(人或物)造成损害时，因集装箱所有人或租借人负有法律上的责任而预先对此赔偿责任进行保险。同时，集装箱运输中的事故也可能使装在集装箱内部的货物发生损害，此时由于集装箱的运输管理者也负有法律上以及运输合同上的赔偿责任，所以运输管理者也必须把对货主的损害赔偿责任风险用保险的形式加以分摊。集装箱保险包括集装箱货物保险、集装箱箱体保险、集装箱责任保险。
