陈染，女，1962年生于北京。幼年学习音乐。18岁兴趣转向文学。23岁大学毕业，获文学学士。曾在北京做过四年半的大学中文系教师，后调入作家出版社做编辑。曾在澳洲墨尔本英国伦敦大学、爱丁堡大学等旅居生活和讲学。现居北京。中国作家协会会员。
