阿阇梨又作阿舍梨、阿阇梨、阿只利、阿遮利耶。略称阇梨。意译为轨范师、正行、悦众、应可行、应供养、教授、智贤、传授。意即教授弟子，使之行为端正合宜，而自身又堪为弟子楷模之师，故又称导师。
前五十位祖师的名号是由陈上师的唐密上师冯大阿阇梨亲书的。
