阑尾类癌位于阑尾的黏膜下层，是常见的胃肠道类癌中的一种，大部分阑尾类癌小于1厘米。临床症状不明显，常因急性阑尾炎在术中或术后发现。其预后较好。本病好发于女性，男女比例为1：2～4。发病平均年龄为38岁，发病高峰在15～29岁。
