重晶石粉，又称硫酸钡粉，化学组成为BaSO4，晶体属正交（斜方）晶系的硫酸盐矿物。常呈厚板状或柱状晶体，多为致密块状或板状、粒状集合体。质纯时无色透明，含杂质时被染成各种颜色，条痕白色，玻璃光泽，透明至半透明。具3个方向的完全和中等解理，莫氏硬度3～3.5，比重4.5。
