（marginal utility theory）即研究假设在其他条件不变的情况下，每增加或减少一个单位的数量可能产生的效应及其对人们决策的影响的理论。它是经济学中的一个概念，它大体可以这样理解，即一个市场中的经济实体为追求最大的利润，多次进行扩大生产，每一次投资所产生的效益都会与上一次投资产生的效益之间要有一个差，这个差就是边际效益。
