道德发展（moral development）是个体心理发展的一个方面。个体认识社会伦理道德规则和准则，形成道德认知、道德情感和道德行为的过程。既受到个体周围社会文化环境的影响，也受到个体的成熟和认知、情绪发展，特别是其从事的交往和道德活动的制约。有关儿童道德发展的研究始于19世纪末期20世纪初，开创者有巴伦斯、夏伦伯格、麦独孤、鲍德温等人。20世纪二三十年代在欧美出现较多研究．如哈茨霍恩和M A梅（1928 1930）的研究，其中皮亚杰的研究影响最大。60年代后又进入新高潮，其中代表人物为美国心理学家科尔伯格。
