通变，谓通晓变化之理。犹变通。不拘常规，适时变动。语出《易·系辞上》：“极数知来之谓占，通变之谓事。” 孔颖达 疏：“物之穷极，欲使开通，须知其变化，乃得通也。” 宋 苏轼 《与李端伯宝文》之二：“智识通变，而性极厚。”南朝 梁 刘勰 《文心雕龙·通变》：“斯斟酌乎质文之间，而櫽括乎雅俗之际，可与言通变矣。”
