velocity selector 从准直孔射出的分子束速度分布仍很宽，为了得到窄速分布的分子束，让其通过一系列切口旋转圆盘(slotted rotating disk)。它们安装在与束方向平行的转动轴上。调节转轴转速及切口相对位置，让粒子流中具有所选择速度的粒子恰好相继通过各圆盘切口到达散射室。速度不合要求的粒子均被圆盘挡掉。 这种速度选择器的缺点是大大降低了分子束强度，而超声分子束不存在这一问题。
