运输业亦称“交通运输业”。从事运送旅客和货物的物质生产部门。它主要运用各种工具设备,实现旅客和货物空间位置的转移。其过程不创造新的物质产品,不改变劳动对象的物质形态,也不增加其数量,改变劳动对象的空间位置和增加产品价值,满足社会的需要。随着社会化生产的发展,运输业在国民经济中及人民的物质文化需要中的地位愈加重要。
