过渡电阻是一种瞬间状态的电阻。当电气设备发生相间短路或相对地短路时，短路电流从一相流到另一相或从一相流入接地部位的途径中所通过的电阻。相间短路时，过渡电阻主要是电弧电阻。接地短路时，过渡电阻主要是杆塔及其接地电阻。一旦故障消失，过渡电阻也随之消失。
